XERO UPDATE: GLOBAL PAY RUN RETIREMENT

XERO UPDATE: GLOBAL PAY RUN RETIREMENT

Starting July 23, 2025, Xero will no longer allow users to create new pay runs in Global Pay Run. While you can still access and review past payroll records, processing new pay runs will no longer be possible. The feature will be fully retired in April 2026, so planning your transition to an alternative payroll solution is important.

Why is this happening?

Xero is continuously improving its platform, and sometimes this means retiring older features to make way for better solutions. If you’ve been using Global Pay Run, now is the time to explore alternative payroll options to ensure a smooth transition.

Alternative Payroll Solutions

To help you continue managing payroll seamlessly, here are two third-party apps available in the Xero App Store:

Talenox

  • Integrates directly with Xero for accounting sync
  • Free alternative with robust payroll features
  • Supports automatic payroll and statutory funds contribution calculation
  • Run multiple payment batches
  • Generate and email payslips
  • Export and print payslips in PDF
JustLogin
  • Comprehensive HR & payroll solution
  • Price per employee per month (After Discount) *
    • Hong Kong: HKD5.99
    • Malaysia: RM0.99
    • Singapore: SGD0.99

*Offer only valid for Xero Customers who have been impacted by Global Pay Run sunset. Also included Free migration service.

Both apps offer easy migration from Global Pay Run, ensuring minimal disruption to your payroll processes.

What Should You Do Next?

  1. Before July 23, 2025: Stop creating new pay runs in Global Pay Run.
  2. Explore alternatives: Check out Talenox or JustLogin in the Xero App Marketplace.
  3. Migrate your data: Export necessary payroll records before April 2026.

Final Thoughts

While change can be challenging, transitioning to a new payroll system can bring added efficiency and features. If you need assistance, Xero’s support team or the app providers can help guide you through the process.
