Since 26 November 2018, a new form of smart Hong Kong Identity Card will be issued to replace the existing smart identity card. The new version of identity card has improved in its durability, security features as well as the chip technology and protection of personal data. Aged 18 or above and is eligible for a Hong Kong Re-entry Permit. 

1 Star * 

Aged between 11 and 17 and is eligible for a Hong Kong Re-entry Permit

Holder’s residential status in the Hong Kong

A – Has the right of abode in Hong Kong

C – The holder’s stay in Hong Kong is limited by the Director of Immigration at the time of registration of the card.

R – Have the right to land in Hong Kong

U – The holder’s stay in Hong Kong is NOT limited by the Director of Immigration at the time of registration of the card.
